One School - Two Locations - Three Departments
In recent years, the Brainport region, Eindhoven and its surroundings, has experienced significant, rapid growth. To keep pace with this development, our school is expanding and evolving. From start of the 2024-2025 school year, the International School Eindhoven (ISE) is operating as one school across two locations.
Our Primary Dutch Bilingual Department is located at Jan Luikenstraat 49, at the centre of Eindhoven offering beautiful green surroundings, and plenty space for future expansion. Our International Primary and Secondary Departments remain at the ISE campus, where a new extension building is set to begin construction in December 2024.
This expansion reflects our commitment to providing high-quality education and accommodating the growing needs of our community.
Primary International Curriculum
(ages 4-11)
The ISE Primary International Department follows the core standards of the National Primary Curriculum from the UK. We use project-based learning to ensure the lessons are accessible to all.
All students in the International Department follow lessons in Dutch as a Foreign Language three times a week. These lessons are given in small groups with the aim of ensuring that students are able to integrate into the local community, and understand both the Dutch language and culture.
Dutch Bilingual Curriculum
(ages 4-12)
The Dutch Bilingual Department follows the Dutch National Curriculum (Kerndoelen Primair Onderwijs). The subject areas in the Dutch Department are theme-based and integrated. 30% of the lessons are taught in English and during the English lessons, students learn grammar, spelling, reading, and speaking. These lessons are taught by the EFL (English as Foreign Language) teachers.
Secondary International Curriculum
(ages 11-18)
The Secondary Department follows the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum which is designed to support students to become global citizens and lifelong learners.
The IB programme supports the development of well-rounded students, who respond to challenges with optimism and an open mind, are confident in their own identities, make ethical decisions, join with others in celebrating our common humanity, and are prepared to apply what they learn in the real world.
Extra-Curriculum
This programme is made especially for students who have little to no knowledge of English or Dutch. Our EAL and DAL programs help students develop proficiency in the target language and prepare them for the lessons. This way, the students can join the curriculum when they have reached a good level of English or Dutch and can work independently.

Merhaba! I am Özcan, and I have been here for nearly 6 years. When I first moved here from Türkiye, I started at the Primary International Department but later I switched to the Primary Dutch Bilingual Department. Learning Dutch was a little bit difficult at first, but now I really like learning Dutch and Dutch culture. We learn lots of different words, songs, dances, and about traditional clothing.
MY TIP TO NEW STUDENTS AT THE ISE:
Make new friends, play with them during the break, and work with them in the class, this will help you to learn Dutch quickly.
A Primary after-school program that teaches students their home language through native speakers of the respective language. We offer nine languages in this program: including French, Spanish, German, Italian, Turkish, Bengali, Portuguese, and Tamil.
The Secondary Department offers a range of home languages in connection to the student’s curriculum needs.
Learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom or school, it takes place everywhere and all the time! A classroom is more than just four walls, it exists in so many different places and interactions that our students can have. We provide our students with various learning opportunities outside of the classroom and campus, where they can learn in action and in the community.
We organise school camps, trips to museums, and visits to other organisations like refugee centres, BioArts, and the Philips Fruittuin. We also invite guest artists and authors to our school to inspire and educate our students.

My favourite spot at the ISE is the forest surrounding us. I love seeing the change throughout the seasons and watching the trees change their colours. I love taking my students there to read a book, to play a game, or simply to watch different bugs and other creatures we can find out there.

Just like the Dutch…
Cycling is a popular mode of transportation in the Netherlands, but it can be challenging for our students. That is why we teach our Group 7 students about the Dutch traffic rules, safety, and etiquette. Once they pass their theoretical and practical exams, they can bike around the neighbourhood and travel safely to school, and hopefully not be blown away by the Dutch weather.now each other, who cares very much about being inclusive and happy honey bees.
