Subject Choices
Subjects Offered at the ISE
There are six groups of subjects. Students are required to study one subject in each group.
Students do not have to take a subject from Group 6 as they have the option of studying an additional subject from either Group 2, 3, or 4.

Theory of Knowledge
Approximately 100 hours of class time – students engage in stimulating critical reflection of knowledge. Assessed through the TOK Exhibition (assessed internally and moderated externally) in DP1, and through an essay of up to 1600 words (assessed externally) in DP2.
TOK, in combination with the EE, contributes a maximum of 3 points to the final total of IB Diploma points.

Extended Essay
Approximately 40 hours of independent study – students complete a substantial piece of independent research of a maximum 4000 words in length under the guidance of a teacher-supervisor. The EE is designed to prepare students for university level research work.
The EE in combination with TOK contributes a maximum of 3 points to the final total of IB Diploma points.
